Writing Prompts for Slides with Notebook LM

NotebookLM Slide Prompts

Video Summary:

The content elaborates on the process of creating effective visuals and infographics using NotebookLM, underscoring the significance of design principles in improving communication.

The initial phase of this process involves uploading an authoritative source, which, in this case, is a scanned copy of a physical book rather than an online document.

This choice of source material sets the foundation for the subsequent steps in the creation of visual content.

Once the book is uploaded, the user engages with the chat area of NotebookLM to generate prompts that will aid in transforming the document into an infographic or slide deck.

The user specifically requests the creation of two distinct slide decks based on the book’s content.

The first slide deck is designed to summarise the core points of the book, distilling the essential information into a concise format that is visually engaging.

In contrast, the second slide deck is developed using prompts provided by NotebookLM that are rooted in established design principles.

This second presentation is crafted with a clear emphasis on the effective communication of information, ensuring that the design choices made serve to enhance the clarity and impact of the content being presented.

The focus on design principles in this slide deck illustrates the potential to customise the creation of visual materials according to specific guidelines derived from any authoritative source, thereby improving the overall effectiveness of the communication.

The video concludes with a brief expression of gratitude towards the audience and an invitation to explore further content, which reinforces the educational intent of the presentation.

This closing remark serves to engage viewers and encourage them to continue learning about the effective use of visuals and infographics in communication.

Video Transcript:

Hello and welcome. You may be creating images and Visuals inside of NotebookLM that may be attractive, but may not necessarily be effective in communicating your message.

So in this video, we’re going to use actual design principles to improve the process. You start the process by uploading an authoritative source to NotebookLM.

For the sake of this video, we’re not going to use an Internet source. We’re going to use a scanned copy of a physical book.

We’re then going to go to the chat area. We’re going to ask NotebookLM to write two prompts for turning a document into an infographic or a slide deck.

We’re then going to upload our document. In this case, we’re uploading an entire book that we’re asking to have summarized into a slide deck.

So in the first slide deck, we’re going to ask for a slide deck, creating the core points of the book.

In the second slide deck, we’re going to use the prompt given to us by NotebookLM based on the authoritative source that gives us the design principles.

And so in this case, we use a different prompt. We use the prompt given to us by NotebookLM. And so the second presentation is based on those design principles.

They’re designed to communicate the information. Again, the first chart is definitely going to be attractive.

In the second presentation, we’ve chosen the principles to design the slide deck to communicate our information.

So you can influence the creation of slide deck with your chosen design principles based on any authoritative source that you want to use. Okay, so that.

Thanks and I will see you in another video.
